Superflex© A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum (3 Hour Session) FILLING

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity filling up

This workshop is based on the theory and practice of the body of work developed by Michelle Garcia Winner and her colleagues in the area of Social Thinking®. The Superflex© curriculum was developed to provide the therapists, teachers, caregivers and children a fun and non-threatening way to explore social thinking. Participants will gain a better understanding of why teach social thinking in the schools. They will become familiar with the prerequisite skills and abilities needed prior to the introduction of the Superflex© curriculum and gain a greater understanding of additional supports/curricular material that may be necessary to insure a student’s success in this arena. By the end of this workshop participants will learn to explicitly teach core social concepts through the use of a superhero, a five-point power plan and the New Team of “Thinkables” and contrast when one’s brain gets sidetracked in a less social way (dominant thinking by a member of the “Team Of Unthinkables”). As a result students will increase their knowledge of social expectations, increase self-awareness of their behavior and how it affects others and learn how to modify their behavior using “Superflexible” strategies.
